Quick tip: What shows in your Nearby queue doesn't actually matter for Incense. It just randomly spits out whatever's in your general area. So if you have Squirtles in your area, you run the chance of getting one from Incense regardless of if there's one showing nearby or not.

Which in turn means you're most likely to get route 1 shitmons since they're the most common, but I've gotten Eevees, a Growlithe, a Drowzee and a Pidgeotto from Incense when I've never seen them in the Nearby queue before.

Live deep in a rural neighborhood off of a highway. Plenty of pokemon around, but almost no stops. The stops and gym near me are right at the entrance of the neighborhood. Have to drive 8 minutes from my house up to the church at the entrance of the neighborhood that is a pokestop. Other pokestop nearby is a sign right at the edge of the road beside the highway and a another sign that is a gym across the highway.

something that I discovered that works really well is if you walk somewhere like up the street or whatever, turn your phone off but keep the app and your data connection on, and come back home. Your character will run in a straight line from where you were when you turned your phone off to where you are now, potentially triggering some of the encounters that were out of the way in peoples houses and yards and stuff. I just got a Venonat this way

Went toward other grass I was literally standing on it and nothing popped out. No tutorial whatsoever, absolute chaos. The list of Pokemon in the bottom right that shows caught pokemon in color and ones you haven't caught as silhouettes, are you supposed to highlight the ones you're looking for? What the fuck do the footsteps mean next to each pokemon? What are your caught pokemon doing just chilling and being useless? Don't even wanna open up the can of worms that is getting the fuckers to evolve, no way of knowing how that works either. I want to stress, NO TUTORIAL AT ALL. How anyone can enjoy this is beyond me I feel like I'm about to have a stroke.

There is no way of knowing even how the game fundamentally works because it doesn't explain anything. What's the deal with the pokemon silhouettes? If they're just what are available in your area thats fine but what does highlighting one or the other accomplish? What happens if you "equip" a pokemon you caught when you don't even battle with them.

If the game was about walking around to catch pokemon that's one thing but even that isn't working, let alone the other features like pokeshop and evolution.

Yep, knowing all of that is impossible. Mobile game tutorials are usually the best, I love being spoon fed how to fucking play a game for children. Usually through a sequence of events that doesn't even let me figure out how I want to do shit so I'm forced to have the exact same beginning as everyone else and not forge my own path.
