I like Origins better. The only problems were the pacing and the Charizard pandering, but those pale in comparison to the problems the main anime faces. I'd honestly go with

Indigo League main anime > Origins > Current main anime

Origins was just an excuse to shill XY by pandering to Genwunners via Charizard and MUH GEN 1.
Red perfectly captured that every little shit never really used anything other than their Starter, and it shows given that his team after the Brock Fight constantly switched around and was never comparable to Charizard, even the Legendary Birds.
It also suffered from only being long enough for the most important parts of the game to get any real spotlight, but then they wouldn't get to the entire point of Origins fast enough, AKA Charizard going Mega to beat Mewtwo.

Someone did calcs with gen 1 mechanics, and even best case scenario that Jolteon would need to be level 22 and the Rhyhorn level 100 to get 1shot that way. You can't get a level 22 Jolteon in gen 1 without Gen 2
