The ridiculous power creep forced Smogon to ban a lot of things in early XY, more than usual. There was a huge increase in people new to Pokémon with XY as well. People not understanding how Smogon worked caused a HUGE anti-Smogon sentiment among new players, especially since XY also made competitive battling more accessible via breeding and the introduction for many new players to EV training in the punching bag minigame thing.

It's a massive shitshow and I'm tired of it.
