That's actually pretty much right though. It matches the pronunciation of Togepi as weve seen it if it isn't 100% TEKNIKUHLY correct. The only thing arguable would be the inflection, like whether it should be what you said, togguhdeh-maroo, or something togguhde-ma-roo, which is absurdly nitpicky, and english doesn't differentiation between the long roo and what is, technically, the japanese ru, so that's a pointless thing to be triggered by.

I think people are complaining more about how it doesn't sound good as an English Pokemon name. It's choppier than the other Pikaclones' names. Dedenne is awkward, too, with the Japanese E sound at the end of a word being extremely un-English, but the name's relative shortness offsets that. Here we have a long name that doesn't flow very well and people are having trouble adjusting to it. Eventually everyone will get used to it.

It's usually a better idea to try to understand why someone is complaining about something than to judge condescendingly just because you aren't having the same issue. Everyone has stuff they don't like, and I'm sure there are people who would think what you complain about is petty/unnecessary/irrational, too. You would probably appreciate if they tried to see it from your point of view in that case.

They'll say it the same whether you tell them it's "toh" or "toe" because the main information they get from that is the sound the o makes and not how long it's held out or what pseudo diphthong it becomes.
