I don't see gothitelle as "mocking vanity." It's a solid design, and obviously a nod to Japanese EGA/visualkei fans. It also seems to be inspired by the Flatwoods Monster (note the pointy onion-like head, and the pokedex entry referencing stars and space).

Gothitelle is actually one of my favorite pokemon. Sucks that there's next to no good fanart of it.
