Gen 1 has some of the best designs, but not every Gen 1 design is a god send. At least a third of the original 151 look either uninspired as fuck or plain ugly. Even though, the same can be said of every generation.

You mean Aromatisse. Spritzee is one of the best mons ever, period. It's a shame it has an evo that literally shits on the cuteness of the design.

Also, Gen 5 did had some shit Pokemon, but saying only 10% of the designs ar good is plain bait. Gen 5 is literally the generation that saved bug type, introduced some of the best ghosts in the franchise and overall had solid designs for at least one line of every type. The four types used in the E4 had some of the best designs for their types introduced during this gen. I think the problem is that some of the worst designs are the ones that kept being shoved in our faces during that gen, i.e. the elemental monkeys.

If anything the worst Gen in terms of Pokemon design is Gen 4.

I'm not trying to be an asshole with this, just stating my opinion.

Well, I'll take the bait.

I've been playing this series since the start, so I'm certainly not "underage." And Gen V has, in my opinion, some of the best designs in the series. Is it the best overall? Probably not, but it's somewhere near the top. I just don't get how some people think that it's the worst, so it seems to me to be a contrarian reaction to a generally well-received generation.

No, there's no bait here. That's literally how gen 5's dex looks to anybody that didn't grow up with Gen 5 as their first game. It's an embarrassment to the series.
