It started with gen 2

They always release the most meh Pokemon at first. The only time I felt hyped for Pokemon from the start was in gen 5. When I saw Haxorus leak for the first time I knew I will be using it my team, I was so hyped for it. This hasn't happened again ever since.

So far there have been a few shitty Pokemon but most of them are just meh, nothing outstanding. But that's how they have been rolling now. They leak lame Pokemon first, I'd suggest to wait for the whole dex before jumping to conclusions.

I agree with you though, Gen 6 and 5 leaks have been better so far, but let's just hope that the rest of the dex will be better.

Pokemon has always had a huge a huge sweeping variety in designs. It was never just "simple animals" or whatever bullshit Genwunners delude themselves into thinking.

Even in Generation 1, we've seen a lot of cute, scary, cool, badass, and inorganic designs. Pokemon by nature is something that thrives in variety, yet every gen without fail, people single out a few designs they personally don't like and complain about them committing some sin that would never belong in Pokemon instead of just being honest about their personal preferences.

None of the gen 7 designs stand out as fantastic, the fact is, with each gen fewer and fewer pokemon stand out as being well-designed.

There's a reason we like pokemon like bulbasaur and psyduck. Lucario and haunter, etc.
Now we have pokemon like cutiefly and rockruff that look like they could fit into any gen. or Tapu Koko that just looks like a mess
