I was running around a few threads yesterday spreading speculation of alternative grubbin evolutions.

I'm not a scientist, but my theory is you'll be able to evolve grubbin differently on each island, it's secondary typing matching up with the islands associated guardian.

Another anon suggested alt evolutions depending on your DS battery level — I'd love that to happen.
