To be fair, fakemon in general have this problem. 99% of the I NEED THIS-tier fakemon are, in the case of those based off animals, because both the the artist and the poster only know about zoology from what they've seen at the zoo and the meme articles they read on Cracked (for example, Mantis Shrimp and Tartigrades), in the case of Science, lack of knowledge/understanding (pokemon based on Schrodinger's cat) or in the case of art, general philistinism (the prevalence of fakemon based on the Birth of Venus but few of other works).

I drew a Rock/Ghost tombstone Fakemon years ago. It was basically a tombstone with arms. Not really special.
But a week ago, I was looking through some old stuff in a box, and found its evolution.

According to my notes, pic related is named Gargrave (gargoyle+grave). It's based on a gargoyle, and has a Grim Reaper motif.

Here's a quick fix. I originally went with a top hat for the final evo like pictured, but I was afraid people would call it out for being "unnatural". Kept the arms on the Pre evo cause I think it makes it cuter.

One thing I can see that might help/hinder, is typing. If just ice, the necklace is odd. If it was grass/ice and this looked liek a lei of flowers, it might work better...

Thoughts on the fire starter?

It's based off fireworks, jumping mouse, jerboa and "being on fire".

I haven't drawn the final stage as yet, but there's still a draft version of it.

first stage is a bit too similar to Dedenne but it shows promise. Maybe try to stray away from the pikachu-esque design for the first stage, the fire whiskers from the sketch design look nice, maybe revamp that idea?

Colors are too saturated and similar. The oranges are too red, so maybe make them more on the yellow side

Changing that red part on its head to a darker color might help break up the design

I also think the fireworks motif is underplayed. You could do some interesting things with that if you took it a bit further
