Serperior seems to be based on the snake in the tree in the Garden of Eden, but if it is it's pretty subtle. (Contrary is "Devil's Advocate" in Japanese, so it would fit.)


Anyway, it's only a matter of time before we get a Ground type desert snake of some description. Maybe Ground/Poison.

The phrase "Devil's Advocate" in context (ama no jaku) has nothing to do with the literal Christian devil and mostly just means to twist or pervert. In fact I kind of feel like it only has it partially for the ja (snake) pun.

I had a fire snake design that was actually a cockatrice that I had originally intended as a starter design but decided that I didn't like a starter being a mythical creature in an unevolved form.

He would have already been bitten if that snake had any intention of biting him. Unless it's some shithead cobra or you're pissing the snake off on purpose, a snake that you've had for long enough to trust touching directly is not going to attack you unprovoked. Of course, it's never 100% safe to touch a snake even if you've cared for it all its life, but the risk is quite small.

Constrictor snakes tend to be pretty chill. Venomous snakes vary, but not many of them are fully predictable. Viperkeeper is how I've learned this stuff by the way, he's been putting out youtube videos on his giant snake collection for almost a decade.

Plenty of snakes and snake based entities in other cultures that were considered benevolent. Nu Wa for example is the chinese snake goddess who created humanity because she felt lonely and fixed the damage other gods did to the balance of the world.

Would like a corn snake to be one of the new mons. Maybe as a fire type due to how common the red and orange ones are, or maybe as a grass mon, or normal even, but I think something like that would be rather nice.

Yeah, I was reading that in eastern cultures in general snakes are symbols of fertility.

In Mapuche lore, Trentren-Vilu and Caicai-Vilu were serpents that had a battle to flood and rise the land, in a similar way that do Kyogre and Groudon.

I don't know more cases in particular.
