Ash's sexual attraction is to his Pokemon journey and his dream. I wouldn't hate him. He's like the Energizer bunny -- he'll keep going and going and going.

That said, in his 20s or 30s, he'll need to at least take a break or slow down the pace of his adventures. I'm sure he'll find some level of success (and a career) out of his journey, and he'd be stupid to pass on any of the pussy being thrown at him. One assumes Alan just hopped on Charizard and flew directly to each city. Ash doesn't do that because, well, you have to mirror game progression a bit. And Ash is in it for the Adventure too. Alan's been around Kalos his whole life, and spent some time traveling it looking for megastones and mega-evolving Pokemon trainers. He has no real reason to go through the region "normally."

May's lack of action moments outside of Contests probably just has to do with the fact that she came directly after Johto Misty and was the first time they were giving a girl a bigger role. Max ate into Brock's screentime, May usually had a role in most Max episodes too.

Even despite that, May still has the second most amount of episodes and on-screen battles of a female companion after Dawn, so its not like she didn't get plenty of screentime.

Its weird that I immediately recognized Misty/Ash's army outfits from that Sentret filler in early Johto. Its bizarre I have most of the Johto episodes memorized in my head despite not enjoying the season much.

Dawn was the most action oriented of all the main girls.

She battled Maylene, Elite 4 Lucian, Team Galactic, tons of random trainers in fillers, wild rampaging pokemon, and she just has more "action heroine" moments similar to Ash's in fillers. Also she was shown to be constantly training in fillers, etc.

When DP first started I was honestly surprised how much screentime Dawn was getting. They did a lot of things with her I wish they had done with May and it was quite a change.
