>Every adult browsing this board right now should be autistic enough to know the type chart off by heart as it is
>Every kids these days is glued to their iDevice and will just google typeshit anyway
So this is just a new meme like "ONLY ONE ISLAND", right? Because I honestly can't see who exactly is suffering or losing out in this scenario

Trial and error is more exciting than just knowing the matchups from the beginning.

The people who justify their self-worth through memorization of something that a 3 year old can memorize are the only ones that are angry about this.

Having to look up shit online is not a credit to the internet, it's a discredit to the game. I wish when I entered an area it said which pokemon I could find there. I also wish it mentioned which egg moves a pokemon can learn. Most of that stuff should be in the game.

It doesn't matter what 'every kid is doing these days' (which is anecdotal evidence in itself), the game still panders to children.

>the game still panders to children
and i never said it didn't. But considering children will find ways to casualize it anyway, and adults already know the type chart like the back of their hand, I'm hard-pressed to work out who exactly the cynics think this is "casualizing" it for. It was already casualized. This feature does not negatively affect a single person on /vp/

I really don't see why this is an issue.

It's not like this shows up the first time you encounter a new pokemon. In the stream it was clearly stated that after you battle a pokemon once those things start showing up.

How is it surprising. The new professor studies pokemon moves. Dude would be interested in shit like this. It can easily be explained as part of the research you help him do.

Backing you up, anon. These other twats in the thread need to shut the fuck up.

Like others have said, not only does the effectiveness only show on Pokemon you know already, but really, who fucking cares? You obsessive fucks already know the effectiveness of everything. It makes it easier for people like my brother-in-law who loved gen 1 but has been out of the Pokemon loop ever since because there's too many types/pokemon for him to care to remember.

It doesn't affect y'all negatively, so shut the fuck up.
>>
>>26741322
In-game I'd be okay with this appearing when you battle a Pokemon that's in your Pokedex. That's the point, right? The dex has the info, etc, whatever. It's like a bonus for catching more Pokemon.

As for the metagame, this shouldn't be in there.
>>
Are you kidding me?

Stop acting as if pokemon was ever fucking hard. You can play through the entire thing using a single pokemon and knowing fuck all about type effectiveness, that's what I did when I was young.

This doesn't hurt anyone. It only makes the game more accessible to inexperienced players and changes nothing for people who already know what they're doing.

Or do you honestly think the single player experience took skill?
>>
>>26743239
>Secondary typings
if people had to guess 1 type they would get many of those pokemon right, if they were told 2 to match up 2 typings instead of 1 I'm sure shit like paras, geodude, doduo, tentacool, dewgong, and lapras would be guessed right since there's not much else to go off of based on their design.

again, stop underestimating people's intelligence, people wouldn't get that entire list wrong with the right resources like you mentioned

>>
>>26741322

But now it seems after the first encounter they take it all away and tell you what works against that type combination.
>>
I won't complain about casualizing if we get IVs affecting appearance instead of stats. Or just being stored as arbitrary values. I just want out of breeding hell; not to mention, I've become so divorced from catching pokemon as it's now an extremely unimportant and far back step to having a pokemon to use now.

What? You encounter a pokemon once and completely forget about it, never bothering to capture or train it. The next time you see it, the game automatically tells you what attacks you can use. Yeah no difference at all...
