i use PKhex too. QR is outdated, like 9.2 firmware n shit, i think. correct me if im wrong.
i just turn off my gameboy, inject, then update the save file. if im just doing one mon it takes less than thirty seconds. i dont worry about backing up after a trade, i just overwrite the previous injections with the new ones and delete what i dont need.

First, go to options, about PKHeC, the click Shortcuts. There is a lot of useful information there.
Just copy the set to your clip board, then hold CTRL and click on Species.

The thing is when it comes to single Pokemon I would so much rather still be able to QR scan, I would also think it'd be optimal for taking requests, all I know about injecting is literally using the backup thing from Homebrew channel, stick the SD Card in a PC and use PKHeX from there and restore the save file after putting the SD Card back into the 3DS

I can definitely see where you are coming from, but I still think it's faster to just have PKHeX running, import the set, export your save, then eject your SD card. If you use JK's save manager you can have your save restored in like 10 seconds.

I have an old 3ds for which I no longer have any need. I don't have any extra equipment, but I'd really like to start using that bad bitch to inject. I've read all the guides, but I cannot discern if I can do this with just my system and sd card, or if I need a separate piece of hardware.

You are in a wonderful position.
However, if you don't have Cubic Ninja you won't have a way into homebrew currently. You can gamble of Freaky Forms. It's $20ish bucks and will let you access homebrew on 11.x. However they might add support to later versions which is the main reason you'd want to buy it. If you have a friend with Homebrew or Powersaves they can fix your OoT cartridge so that it can be used as your entry point.

I wouldn't update unless you had Freaky Forms, and you are extremely anxious, as it yo manage to get homebrew up and running you can get custom firmware on your 3ds.

I've just found this general and I've read through the pastebins but I'm still a little confused. Is it possible to inject on a version 11.0.0.33 without a hardmod, if it isn't, will it be possible in the future?
