Gen V is more like a mixed bag rather than complete shit. It has some EXCELLENT designs (Galvantula, Gigalith, Scolipede, Volcarona, Chandelure, Sigilyph...) but it also has a crapload of designs that are universally agreed to be among the worst in the entire series (elemental monkeys, pretty much all the starters and legendaries, Throh/Sawk, Conkeldurr, Garbodor, Watchog...)

I'm a big fan of the first four but I really dislike Hoenn and Unova mons.
I'm not a big fan over all of Gen II, but I do think its designs were the best. Likewise, Gen IV is my favourite gen but that doesn't excuse some stinkers.

The incarnate forme is totally fine, the genies are only flawed because there's three of them totally unchanged and they are just palette swaps. If there was only one of them the genie would be fantastic.

Here's how you fix the genies.

Remove Landorus, possibly make Tornadus water/flying. Tornadus and Thundurus are meant to be Fuujin and Raijin, brothers who are gods of the storm. Fuujin is the god of the wind and rain and the younger brother, Raijin is the older brother, god of thunder and lightning. Landorus is meant to be Inari, who is a goddess of fertility and crops totally unrelated to Fuujin and Raijin. Removing Landorus fixes them, and then you can make Tornadus look smaller or weaker relative to Thundurus to make their relationship as older and younger brothers clear, like the relationship between Latios and Latias as well as their similar but distinct designs. Different designs as well as different poses, animations and demeanors in battle.
