If you include Mega Evolutions, which are clearly replacing cross-gen evolutions, then Kalos is really no different from Sinnoh.
So what exactly is too say that Gen 7 will only add 70+? Adding less than 100 Pokemon is NOT a new thing people, hell if you even exclude all the cross-gen evolutions gen 2 added you'd get less than 100 original Pokemon.
I predict gen 7 will add at least 100+ new Pokemon, even if it is at the cost of a few less megas. We already have tons of megas

Its not that they don't count or aren't real Pokémon, he's just saying that this is probably the thought process GameFreak had, that mega evolutions are equivalent (even though they're not) to new Evos/prevos of older Pokémon. They have a mostly new gen, then a related-to-previous-gens gen, then a mostly new one again, and so on.
