My standards say that i shouldn't watch the anime, but Gym Battles and Region Leagues always get the best of me. I even tried to watch the B/W league but apparently that whole season was SO SHIT that not even the poor aspies that still watch this on a weekly basis like it, which makes sense, considering that the few episodes i saw were worse than awful, even during the league.

But X/Y... what i've seen so far, along with most of the positive feedback it has gotten has me tempted to actually watch it, or at least MOST of it if it's worth it.. the leauge wont matter anyway, because Ash is obviously going to win. I have feeling the leauge will be no different. Everyone acts like 'Oh if Ash had just used a different strategy/Pokemon he would've won, why did the writers make him stupid, etc,' but the anime doesn't follow logic. There is no comprehensive, working strategy. Sometimes super-effective moves matter, sometimes Pikachu hitting Lucario with a resisted Iron Tail doesn't mean shit.

The problem isn't that the writers make Ash dumb, it's that the anime universe has no set rules. Its very laws of physics work in according to the writer's will. They didn't want him to lose this battle. Thus, he didn't. Ash's character growth, team members, and strategies don't mean shit when the universe he exists in can flex and bend to defeat him at its whim.

At the very least they made it a satisfying and dramatic conclusion, with the whole double knockout into standing up and then clashing signature moves.
