Did you know they were called "Four Heavenly Knights" in the original? The "E4" I mean. The fifht refering to the master obviously, very popular trope like the 4 angels of the world corners/elements (lead by Metatron-Sandalphon).

That was their early draft planed for anime, but most of this never appeared in that form or even till Hoenn at all.

I like Marshal the most out of the Unova E4, as well. Nothing wrong with that. He's not my all-time favorite, but he has a great design.

The only Kalos gym leaders worth anything are Ramos, Valerie, Clemont, and Wulfric. The rest are devoid of personality.

Canonically the mentor of Oak, and just an overall great design: the grizzled yet wise professor, who's clearly knowledgeable, and rocks a bitching coat.

His interactions in the game are even better. The guy gets accosted by Team Galactic Members who practically try to mug him, and his response? "You look completely ridiculous; get out of my face, and do something better with your lives". He won't take any shit from the player either, and just glares you down until you accept his damn pokemon.

Growing up with Gen 1 and the anime, I naturally gravitated towards Misty during that time. Yeah, Sabrina had that mystic charm, Erika looked cute, and Lorelei was the teacher we all wanted to punish us, but for whatever reason Misty was at the top of the list, and remained that way even throughout Gen 2. I honestly didn't think she could be surpassed in terms of a simplistic yet eye-catching design.

Then Gen 3 rolled around, and in this worthless little town whose only claim to amusement was a making it look like your character was buried in sand, another redhead showed. And, for whatever reason, I was smitten, and I couldn't explain you why.

Obviously the favoritism here comes from pure attraction; Flannery has little character, and she does absolutely nothing in the plot, so the only reason she made an impact was because she was just hot (cheap pun not intended). Though what's weird to me is, there are much hotter pokegirl designs (and even some pokedudes), and yet whenever someone mentions gym leaders, it's Flannery I always think of.

I don't remember my first gym fight with her being particularly challenging, and her design outside of her hair and midriff isn't anything groundbreaking. But, regardless, she remains my favorite in the entire franchise.

Honorable mention: Brock, but only because of the anime.

The E4 has always been very disappointing in regards to interesting designs for me... And yet, it's the generic muscle karate man that stands out the most in my mind.

Same problem I have with the E4 in general; the Champions just aren't all that interesting to me. But, alongside Blue, Cynthia was one of the few Champions to actually get involved in the plot, so she has more staying power than, say, Iris or Diantha.

Nothing else to really say about this; it's pretty obvious why she'd be chosen as anyone's favorite.

There's just something about villains who wish to destroy everything that makes the Universe a diverse and chaotic mess that I love. Cyrus started as such a generic baddie in DP, but Pt came along and turned him into an brilliantly insane cult leader.

See, my biggest problem with guys like Giovanni or Ghetsis, and especially Lysandre, is just how pathetic their teams are. They're all retards who can't stand up to a little kid who just started his pokemon journey. But with Cyrus, they actually gave a goddamn reason behind this: he WANTED his minions to be complete morons so they wouldn't ask any questions, and obey him blindly. They were nothing but pawns to him, and he played them all like a fiddle.

Cyrus is like the Darkseid of the pokemon games, and the best part about him is, he was never caught. The bastard's still out there, and should Gamefreak not drop the ball with him, he's just waiting for the best time to strike again.

Or I'm likely just putting too much thought into a children's game because I'm bored easily. That sounds more likely.
