With the existence of genwunners, I doubt it. In the Gen 1 days, pokemon was open for EVERYONE and nobody felt overwhelmed and behind. Today? With 700 creatures to remember and people that choose to wear their nostalgia goggles tightly? Nothing but wishful thinking.
