Shiny hunting is the most autistic act man has ever come up with. Well, it's fucking true. It's fucking true. The only reason we shiny hunt is 'cause we have nothing else to do. So we fuckin' shiny hunt, 'cause it gives us this temporary feeling of like "THERE IT IS, I did it, I'm the luckiest in the world at this thing...that like nobody with any sense does." That's all it is. Really. We're all fuckups.

Certain Pokemon just can't be traded over the GTS. I know the sacred ball and some ribbons prevent it, but I don't know if they're actually just blocked species wide too (which makes being able to ask for them even stupider).

There's no restrictions on person to person trades, though, even online. As long as you're directly trading with them, everything goes through.

Trying to get a 4th shiny eevee. Got 3 in 3 days, 2 pentapetfect future umbreons (one for me, one for my gf),then got another shiny future Espeon, but it lacked IVs in sp. Attack, so I decided to breed one more.

Regardless, I got the bold, syncho ralts afterwards, but jeeze, I always ran into shinies in the wild by sheer accident, not while looking for something that is statistically much more common.

Knowing what I do now, I probably would've searched around for a bit to see if there was any short chain through the egg groups that would do it. Hunting down one specific nature is fucking chore and the way Everstone works now makes it much quicker to just breed it to the right mon if necessary, even if it takes a few steps of a chain.

As for random shinies, Horde training has resulted in a number of shinies too. Spinda, two Murkrows, and so on. Same while farming items in Friend Safaris. Not quite the same, but it's been interesting to notice the overall boosted shiny rates nowadays, especially with all the bonuses that stack up. Haven't used the dex nav enough to get anything from there yet, but I'll probably try it out after I finish my current MM hunt. Think I started to run into them in the wild in BW2 after the charm as well. Before that, I'd never run into one naturally since Gen II.

I believe anon is saying that yes, they knew what would be needed to breed a Bold Ralts (that is, a Bold pokemon in the Amorphous group or, they don't mention, a Bold Ditto). Since the question was asking if they checked that first and they're saying they knew what they would've needed, the implication is that they didn't have any Bold Amorphous mons lying around.

I have a shitton of random mons lying around these days. I probably would searched more to see if there were any bold ones I could some how chain the nature down to, rather than rolling the dice a bunch of times and praying. But at least anon got a shiny out of it.

Yeah, that's what I did when I was getting my Synchro's set up. I think I agree with >>26513928 though. Technically, dex nav should make it quicker because you can spawn a new Ralts right away. Whereas with with breeding there's always a bit of a delay between hatchings, even if you're doing it the most efficient way possible. I got all my Synchro's set up back in XY though, so it wasn't really possible then.

Literally any price, even double that, is infinitely better than the current situation. A stupidly high price can eventually be reached, and at a certainty too. Right now, it's basically a dice roll. Even when not being ridiculous and shooting for a shiny HA, it can be a chore to get everything else set up, and still have to hatch a bunch of eggs to get one where the HA lines up with everything else.

Both, if the bulbapedia article is to believed. Search level increases the chances for them at each of the chained levels, which also increases the chances. Getting both higher gives the best results.

Funny story, I'm not doing it on virtual console, but on emulator. As for the reason, the entire thing is just to be able to say I legally own the four shiny Kanto legendaries in 2nd gen, because as I said, I already found all four on LG, and already transferred them to 6th gen. That's it. No joke.

Radar, Shiny Charm, and gen 6 gave us Friend Safari, chain fishing, hordes, higher shiny rates overall, and dexnav. I hope gen 7 gives us something extra to work with too. It was a mix of already having some stuff I caught through my playthrough of Y, a few version exclusives from my X (easily obtainable in the wifi general) legends Pokebank'd up and a quick run around in my older games (which I'd already finished) to catch rarer stuff.

If you use Bulbapedia or Serebii to look up where Pokemon are, it's very quick.
