He's designed tons of the Pokemon we all love and enjoy and his designs have been a big part of my child hood. He also just helped create the series in general, isn't he like co-creator or something? He pretty much adopted a streamlined artstyle that stayed with him from Gen 4-6, and is pretty evident if you can learn the difference between his style and Yusuke Ohmura's. Also, his shading and lineart is consistent on Pokemon official art from gen 3-6.

If you look at the boxart and starter art closely, the shading and lineart are more simple instead of rough. Yusuke probably did them, given Sugimori kinda gave up on Yveltal and Xerneas for a while.
