The first of every generation is mediocre at best but held up by the fancy new feeling of new mechanics, world, and Pokemon.

Most likely it'll be like BW1 where the engine is very polished compared to the generation prior, but the adventure itself is lackluster.

But Nintendo did say there was going to be a business meeting around E3 to discuss upcoming games for this year and 2017. I think it's likely we'll get a more news on S/M a week or two after E3 in a trailer or something.
