Do people really hate the regional birds? The only one I think is ugly is Unfezzant, I like the rest. Sure, most of them are a bit plain, but I wouldn't call them ugly.

Unfezant is shit and there is no reason to use it when you can get an Archen fairly early and a Braviary in BW2
Pidgeot looks neat, but Fearow and Dodrio are more solid choices

Linoone puts up a decent fight if you keep it leveled up. Dig and now Play Rough are solid coverage, nothing quite like having your slave murdering dragons in the E4.
Diggersby is also burly as fuck ingame. Cheek Pouch is actually pretty silly and Earthquake is always strong.
