So is Ash getting Ashimari? It would be odd to see him just get the water line again after this gen, but I could see them doing that. Will he get two lines and the third goes to a travel companion? I can't see them giving him Rowlet because they will want to give him the regional bird, and Litten seems like it would go to companion flavor of the week. Which makes the sea lion the most likely candidate.

So what do you guys think Serena's role in the Volcanion movie is going to be? From all of the previews we've gotten so far she hasn't had much of a presence.

With the focus on Volcanion and Magarnea's relationship and the plot to rescue her, do you think we'll have something similar with Ash and Serena where Serena gets captured and Ash plays the role of knight coming to the princesses rescue?

Since it's the last movie the possibility of a spaghetti scene wouldn't be to far fetched.

So, crazy theory. Between Pokemon Origins, the mini-short for Black and White 2, and a few other snippets, it is apparent that Pokemon is at least entertaining the idea of dropping Ash.
So they do it. The whole lead up with Diantha inviting Ash to the champion's league, and Ash's ties to the region and all that jazz is how they get Ash to stay in one place. Ash's story, as we follow him, is done. Maybe he gets with Serena, maybe (Insert Pokegirl of choice) comes back, maybe he goes down the path of a true wizard and never gets with anyone, whatever. He's done. Neato burrito.

The Sun/Moon anime primarily stars BOTH male and female protags, who are both newly moved there and bond over a mutual interest in Pokemon. Just like that Sun and Moon trailer. We follow all new characters, and maybe, just maybe, they run into Ash at some tournament somewhere, aged (yes, actually aged) 3-5 years and have an awesome, big-budget, three episode battle where Ash just barely wins and becomes champion on-screen/gets stomped by a newbie and is robbed yet again.

Yeah, rewatching the episode, it's really great seeing how confident and enthusiastic Ash was about becoming a Pokemon trainer, despite not being any good at all and everything working against him, with him finally succeeding in winning over Pikachu at the end.
It would have been nice to see things have more meaning like this or something like that I'm not sure how to explain it. But the general tone of season 1 is something I really miss in XY, and pretty much any series after Season 1 too actually. Every epsiode where Ash got a new Pokemon in season one managed to be somewhat emotional in a way, only times they weren't particularly was when he got Caterpie and Pidgey, but in those cases their releases ended up being really good emotional episodes.
And of course Muk and Krabby weren't very emotional either.

XY is shit because the whole 8 badges plot is not only retarded, but it's been completely exhausted to the point where it's become meaningless. Who the fuck cares about the league or winning badges at this point, it's all just a method of starting pokemon battles for the kids watching. At least in the OS, Gym battles provided Ash with character arcs that develop him as both a trainer and a person, but now he doesn't develop at all; there's nothing left to do with him.
