i tried to make in non-linear by having yo go in any order for the 3rd-5th badges, you could probably do something similar for the big island, but i didnt want to draw out routes and shit because that's too much speculation for what we know currently.

It's weird to me that the starter town is Honolulu. You know, the capital of Hawaii. That seems more like something that should be the Lumiose of the region.

surf is only bad because Gamefreak is run by retards who never figured out they can vary the surf encounters by route.

and/or, make patches of deep water/choppy water/seaweed that contain the encounters, and leave regular surfing just like walking.
