I agree, it's strange though when they were first revealed a lot of people disliked Froakie. Fennekin seemed like the mosy popular until around the Summer.

The redundant and awful looking tongue scarf on its final form makes it garbage tier. Worst design detail I've ever seen on a starter.

Greninja is the single most overrated piece of shit in Pokémon history.
Chesnaught is meh
Delphox is the absolute worst starter.

I like em for the most part, Delphox is probably my second least liked of all the fire starters (behind Emboar, I love Tepig though) but otherwise they're good. Delphox isn't really even BAD looking.

Also, Chesnaught ended up being my favourite of the final evo's but I think Chespin looks kind of stupid. Seems like I'm alone in that regard.

I love the Chespin line. The only goofy one is Quilladin

I kind of hate how Fennekin turned into waifu material and also Delphox is no bueno

Froakie and Frogadier are great, Greninja is great in battle but I honestly hate its design.

Love the Chespin line, second favourite starter. The Froakie and Fennekin lines are also great, though admittedly I prefer Braixen over Delphox. Overall a really good set of starters.

Braixen is best second form
Chesnaught is best third form

They're all pretty standard on the starter scale, though. None of them are offensively ugly unless you count their evolved forms at which point Greninja is pure garbage.

Froakie line is GOAT, Chespin and Fennekin lines are hit-or-miss. Chespin is pretty good, Braixen is fantastic, Delphox and Chesnaught are nothing special.

It's pretty clear how certain forms of these starters were designed with the anime in mind. Note that the most well received evolution stages of each starter are also the ones that have most prominence in the animated series. It's not a coincidence, the anime has been heavily affecting Pokémon designs for a while and the Kalos starters were hit the most with it.

4 > 3 > 1 > 5 > 6 > 2

6 only beats 2 because of Greninja

I like Greninja's line and really warmed up to Chesnaught's line during SMD, to the point where the latter are some of my favorite Pokémon now. Sort of getting tired of all the official Greninja shilling but I don't want to let that affect my opinion of the Pokémon.

Delphox's line is okay, I guess. Not amazing, but at least it's not forgettable like Gen 2/5's shit.

All in all, relatively good starters.

I was a Fennekinfag from the beginning, but despised Delphox and regretted letting my Braixen evolve the first time I played X, but over the past six or so months it's really grown on me and now I like the whole line.
The Froakie line is fantastic in every way.
I hate Chesnaught slightly less than I used to, Quilladin is still ugly as sin and I have no strong feelings about Chespin.

I was one of the people who thought these three were fake when they were leaked early. I couldn't believe they'd give them such ugly models. No effort was put into making the GEN SIX final evos actually look alive.

They've all grown on me a lot now, though. But only in fanart- their models are ugly as sin, except special snowflake Greninja's.

Oh well, mediocre starters but great pre evos here.

I picked Chespin thinking it looked the best out of the 3 and not knowing it's evos when I got X day 1.

I did not regret it one bit.

Frogadier looks cool and is a better progression from Froakie than Dewott was from Oshawott
Quilladin has a decent design but awful model
Delphox has good fan art but the official design and model are trash
Chesnaught is fun to use, but looks hideous and scraps the progression of the line
Greninja is obviously one of the strongest starters, and its design has only grown on me due to smash, when I first saw the three final stages I thought they were the worst trio we had had yet. I still think that's true probably, but I've warmed up to greninja a bit.
