Cynthia has always seemed like THE strongest Champion in the anime universe.

Lance never really had a presence in the anime besides his G-Men plot.

Steven doesn't have that air of strength that Cynthia had and feels more like a researcher then a strong Trainer.

Alder didn't feel like a champion but a homeless man with Pokemon.

Diantha has the feel of a movie star/celebrity then a Pokemon Champion.

Cynthia was the only one to have been portrayed as an Elite Trainer and the strongest Trainer in the Sinnoh region. She was more Pokemon focused then anything else.

Now, Satoshi saw X/Y´s new Brock gym leader using his Onix against Viola, and the way he won. So now he started to see that Satoshi had to prepare for any situation an opponent can put him in. That´s how he knew what to do against “rock throw” and later again with “aura sphere”. Like when Fletchinder fought against Sylveon. It was so unpredictable that when Satoshi raped Sylveon, the chick couldn´t respond and Misses Fairy had to tell her to do it. Then she went serious with the Spritzee, strategizing a better way to fight Satoshi, using trick room, something that Satoshi beat not one, but twice, first by knowing that his only chance was to make Fletchinder faster. To weak the mon, because he knew he was gonna use Hawlucha, a fighting type, that is weak against fairy. Then by just fucking breaking the trick room with the speed used by Spritzee, Hawlucha won. Other thing, Hawlucha resisted many electric type attacks during Clemont´s Gym battle, and REKT the electric lizard with a cool Satoshi Strategy. That´s Fletchinder and Hawlucha.
