I think broad terms like ''fish'' can apply to multiple species of aquatic Pokemon since there are so many Pokemon BASED on fish. Basculin, Magikarp, Feebas, Remoraid, Goldeen, Seaking, etc. The list goes on. The term ''fish'' exists for the same reason the term ''bug'' exists in that world.

Magikarp looks delicious. I'd have one fried with a side of lemon and parsley.

Do real fruits exist in the pokemon world or are they retconned so it's only berries?
