I don't buy it. They introduced Fairy without having to come up with bs reasons why Clefairy suddenly resists the only type it had ever been weak to. They pick and choose what they want to retcon, and they could easily choose to ignore the fact Eviolite didn't work on Magcargo in Gen VI but suddenly does in Gen VII. They can do literally anything they want.

It's not just lore, but unless they nerf eviolite they risk getting situations like Dusclops/Chansey where the original outshines the newer one which defeats the whole point of designing new mons.

Hey, what d'you guys think of this base stat setup for Magcargo's evolution? This is assuming it becomes a Fire/Steel type.

When Slugma evolves into Magcargot, it gains a hard rock shell, so its defense goes up by 80 and its sp def goes up by 40, while everything else gets a generic 10 point boost. Pic related shows what would happen if it got the same boosts again, as I think a rock shell turning into a steel shell would use the same logic.

The only difference is that I made its speed drop. I figure it WOULD do that because it would become heavier, but also I think a snail really should be slow, and in any case if that needs to happen or else it would have a higher bst than Volcarona.

It has less hp, sp att and speed but is actually bulkier than heatran. It even gets yawn and amnesia and recover and stuff.

I would remind you all that hyper beam and giga impact can only be learned by mons who are fully evolved, which has led to the awkward situation where things like Golbat can still learn it. Certainly they try not to retcon things as much as possible but they aren't beholden to it.

They should really put a cap on eviolite. Like it'll raise your stats until you reach base 500 or 600 or whatever.

How do you define worthiness? Whether it's useless in competitive? Then you mean it NEEDS an evolution, there's a difference. Don't use one word to mean another.
If you're going to claim Magcargo deserves an evolution, you have to come up with a potential concept that's clever and not just bigger, or else you get literally whos like Tangrowth and Lickylicky.
