The most recent books i've read are House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewsk, Love in the Times of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and The Stranger by Albert Camus.

I have very safe author picks: Huxley and Orwell, but i'll be damned if they don't have the most consistently great library i've seen.

Today, I bought an 1862 eight volume edition of Gibbon's History of the Roman Empire for 40$, and plan on reading it as soon as the summer hits.

I actually started with Lolita as my first Nabokov text, and I agree that it would be a good starting point. I would recommend reading Pale Fire or Pnin afterwards, as they form central points reflecting Nabokov's life in America. You could probably read any of the above three in any order.

I would also recommend getting The Stories (his collection of short stories), and reading a few like Bachmann, The Potato Elf, and Terra Incognita if you want to get acquainted with the basic essence of his writing style. (unreliable narrators, prose like sentences, humor, etc.)

That's the problem, they're hardly ever noticeable. In the anime, he's husk a hollow husk for Ash to project his hot-bloodedness and victory lust onto. By himself he's pretty much nothing. It's been nearly 20 episodes since he arrived and he hardly even interacts with anyone but Ash. It's boring as hell. Such a colorful and personality-filled design is sentenced to be made out of cardboard in the anime. What a waste.
