Geovanni curb stomps Ash in mere seconds, its an utter embarrassment and a waste of time, esepcially since he should have been theoretically skilled enough to have faced him at the end of the Kanto arc.

While we're talking about Giovanni, I really hope the anime makes up for that canceled Team Rocket vs Plasma special and have them travel to Kalos to fight Team Flare.
It might be wishful thinking+grabbing at straws, but the fact that Lysandre is the only team villain in the anime to actually have his own Pokemon makes me imagine him confronting Giovanni in a Persian vs Pyroar showdown.

Seriously anime writers, get on it. I don't want Giovanni to disappear for the entirety of the show after that last Team Flare ep, only to appear near the end to congratulate the TRio for "once again singlehandedly wiping out another rival organization".

The most we've seen of "the real Team Rocket" outside of comedic duos would probably be... I don't know that Saint Anne? And the actual plan in that attack was barely better than a Jessie and James scheme, it just had large numbers of masked grunts participating.

The closest we were going to get was Rocket Vs. Plasma, but the fact is that two parter was so obviously inconsequential to the overall plot of BW that they just pulled the episodes and parted out the animations into episodes that were far enough ahead that they weren't animated at the time RVP got canned.

I think the most we've seen of TR operating as an organization was during the Johto sagas. The Lugia arc, the multiple movies that featured Team Rocket agents as the main villains (including Giovanni himself) and the introduction of new Rocket characters in Cassidy/BitchButch and Dr Namba.

Funny how the Johto anime showed Team Rocket in full force but in the games they were but a shadow of their former strength.
Now I wish to see the return of these old characters in the Ashime again.

Well, TR has never been as "organized" as the other teams, if that makes any sense. You have Plasma whose goal is to liberate pokemon, Flare to remake society, etc..

Rocket has only ever been about making money, so it's a lot more accessible to common thugs like Annie and Oakley who don't want to be drawn into a cult-esque idealogy. It also makes it a looser organization, so you have people like the Masked Marauder who seem to basically do what they want most of the time.

But it was right after Mewtwo had just escaped from the lab and Giovanni wasn't in a great mood, so not only did he not give a fuck about some Pikachu, but he knocked it out of their hands, breaking the trap, and allowing it to escape.
