What defines a generation is compatibility. If two pokemon games can trade all pokemon back and forth between each other, it's a new generation.

The fact that the pokemon bank site says "Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y can also be brought into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in the same way." in reference to sending pokemon TO sun and moon, shows that they cannot be traded, but have to be transfered.

Just like the other features that you had to use to transfer, not trade, pokemon between generations.

It's not a fan term, but that doesn't mean they define it the way we do.

They called Mega Mewtwo a new Pokemon. From a marketing standpoint, it basically is a new Pokemon. It's a new thing you can use in battle with different stats and abilities. But fans don't call it a new Pokemon. They just call it a different forme of Mewtwo.

Same thing applies to this. If it has new Pokemon they can call it a new gen and nobody gives a shit. But that doesn't necessarily mean the fans will call it "gen 7" if nearly everything about it matches up with gen 6.

Transferring pokémon via bank is not compatibility. Trading from oras xy to sun and moon would be compatibility. If anything the site and the language used all but confirms there is no trading between SM and XY ORAS if you can only use bank.

Sorry, but the danish website is only half-official, as it's unlikely to have more information than the english or japanese websites. Nintendo also has no branches in scandinavia, so it's unreasonable to think that danish website > english or japanese websites in terms of importance. Until the real official sources say that we're entering the seventh generation, the danish website is irrelevant.

So, let's say we do get a Z version after SM, what the hell would we call that?

The only link back to gen 6 is in the movie, which like the Lucario movie is designed to be a bridge to a new gen.
