Therefore he's going to be featured in 24, 25 and 26.

Counting a mid-December SM release and two more breaks, there will be 25 more episodes after XY&Z29. The league never takes more than 7 or 8 episodes, and even if you assume Ash wins it, that would only add up a couple more episodes at most (not counting Elite Four plus Diantha which are technically not Pokémon League but Champion League). TF will definitely take less than 15 more episodes, they're almost at the endgame if we assume the final confrontation will be similar to the one in the OP. There's all the time they need to do whatever.

The concept of Ash being retired at some point is more likely now than before, because the show has been running 20 years and is nowhere as popular as it used to be. At this point the writers know they can have any cast and it doesn't make a difference. Just throw in another pikachu with a different character.

Ash being so lame is actually one of the reasons that even as a kid I wasn't a big fan of the pokemon anime for long (loved the games though, and still do).

-Goku became stronger in every new arc, with stronger enemies and new transformations and fusions and powers
-The kids in digimon became stronger as their digimon became gradually more badass (from a small dinosaur to a sort of humanoid dino mech that throws genkidamas/spirit bombs)
-Sakuragi goes from 100% idiot to 50% idiot 50% skilled basketball player and his team gets many wins
-etc


But ash was allways stuck in mediocrity. As soon as he got a few badass pokemon from the games the writers allways made sure that he somehow lost them or just stopped using them. As a kid when I started watching the show I was expecting that after a year or so ash would be fighting the elite four and winnig and fighting epic battles with legendary pokemon and all that. Turns out a year after he was still mostly using shitty first evolution pokemon and not winnng anything.

Now I know it's just the obvious way of making the show go on for so long (if he was a badass after a year they wouldn't have content for the next 10 years). But even as a kid I was always annoyed by how much ash sucked.
