Well because I think they fit me more than most of the other moves in there.
See my favorite 'mon is Mareep but I don't really think most Electric type moves suit me personally, especially the ones the Mareep line learns.
I picked Power Gem because when I was a younger I used to have rock fights with the neighborhood kids, so I figure I've been hit with enough rocks to be at least half Rock type or have at least one Rock type move. I've probably got a few pebbles embedded in me somewhere and more than a few scars.
I picked Dragon Pulse because people say I have a scary looking face and pointy teeth. And since Dragon Pulse has to do with the mouth I thought it fit well enough. Better than most of the other moves.
