It seems like we've been talking about Heatmor a lot lately.

I like him in theory, its just he's so awful in practice. He really needs to be an early game mon, where you can pick him up when you need a fire type and then give you a reason to keep him on, instead he shows up in the very final stretch when your team is set and only something really good would dislodge that.

I like his muffler theme though, and he's a good candidate for evolution, mega or otherwise.

I like the stats and ability, but I would make it Fire/Fighting (don't kill me). It'd get STAB Focus Blast at least, then, and it'd have Sucker Punch for Psychics and its Fire typing would make it neutral to Fairy.

It could just spam Inferno and hit opposing Fire types with Focus Blast.

I got someone to trade me an egg of one in BW because I thought it was awesome. Honestly Claws/Fire Blast/Focus Blast/Night Slash with a Quick Claw was great in game.

I hope it gets a combustion engine themed mega, fire/steel maybe. Emphasise the exhaust and engine parts.

I like it. Although it always put me in mind of bagpipes. Fire/Scottish type, gets one of those stupid tartan hats with a ginger (flame) pompom, learns screech/disarming voice/round/hyper voice/boomburst.

I feel like Heatmor fits in really well alongside Gen 1 Mons, myself.

Heatmor is like FireRed Magmar: only appears at the end of the campaign, and it has no differentials to separate him from other Fire-types you find earlier that are worth holding out for

He's pretty neat though, just wish it had something else going for it

We fix it by adding 9 to both defenses, and adding 8 to attack.
Give him Over Heat and some other moves that lower your stats after using them.
White Smoke now stops self-inflicted stat drops.

Torkoal would benefit more thanks to Shell Smash, but Heatmor'd be right below him.

I like the weird, quirky design. I dunno. The fire tongue in particular seems cool. However, I 100% understand why people don't like it; it has an extremely weird design that doesn't fit in very well, but, unlike Magmar, it isn't from Gen 1, and it doesn't have an evolution to make up for its extremely subpar stats. Not to mention that it's from Gen 5, which is by far the least popular generation on /vp/ in terms of design.

Heatmor to me seems like a pretty interesting mon and has an interesting shiny, but a lot of things hold it back.

the design is so bizarre it works. the flame tongue is seriously cool too and I would like to see another pokemon with it,maybe a fire snake starter that would have a forked version of it

But Durant is brutal, Hone Claws + Hustle and a good speed and attack, so even late in the game is worth considering for your team.

Loses to Durant if the Durant uses dig or stone edge.

And any mon that's unprepared for an ant to start digging should just go extinct aready instead of waiting around to get outsped and killed anyway.
