In fairness, Exp Share never worked the way it did before Gen 6. Asking why it should be turned off is a legit question, because if it worked by Gen 1 rules you'd ask why you're even using it.

Turn off the Exp. Share, I was so fucking overlevelled when I played XY because I didn't know the game wasn't balanced around it. They changed it this Gen to give 50% Exp. to everything in your party (plus the full 100% to your lead) and you end up taking in 350% of the experience that you would in Gen 1-5, and they do not balance the game around that intake at all.

Never use Amie with your main team because they give you overpowered bonuses.

Always play with a full team of 5 or 6 unless most of the Pokémon you want are late game.


If you do these things you might be able to have an actual enjoyable experience where you don't steamroll everything.

This guy >>25756235 is lying out his ass, trainers and wild Pokémon in the game have fixed levels. My team was ~15 levels above the champion's, ~25 levels for the two Pokémon that had boosted trade Exp.

I mean I think XY are very weak games in the series anyway but if you follow these you'll probably have a better time than me.
