GSC's soundtrack was great, lots of catchy tunes. I haven't played it in over a decade easily but I've caught myself humming tunes pretty frequently.

The only song that's more of an earworm for me would be Imakuni's theme from the GBC TCG--I literally played that game through ONCE when it first released but I've never, ever forgotten that song for some reason.

OP you fucked up. If you're still here I think the problem is that the originals were composed really well and chiptune sounds so fucking good. There's a reason people still make chiptune shit today. You can't beat it. They have an item to switch it to the original for a reason. People didn't notice it in RBY because it wasn't as good.

Truly the worst in the series. At least Kanto has great trainer music (although the gym leader music sucks for Kanto oddly enough).

HGSS had some great music. There were some tracks where I preferred the original (Dark Cave, Game Corner, Goldenrod City) but on the whole it was decent. It helps that GSC's original soundtrack was already good, but even the new tracks were great (Route 47, Ho-Oh Battle, Lugia Battle).

FRLG, on the other hand, butchered the soundtrack.
