Why do pokemon say their names in the anime? Do you prefer them

And they do it to show that Pokemon have a weird language that only they understand. At least in the show they do? Didn't see much Origins so do they have speech in there?

This raises the idea that Pokemon are sapient and socially a slave race to humans to a large degree. Why the anime does this I dunno. But at least the furfags are happy.

Haven't they always been saying their names in the main games as well? Not in the battle cries of course, it's when you talk to some NPC Pokémon in the overworld. Some just roar or groan, but certain ones say parts of their names just like in the show. I can't remember if this was true for Gen 1 but I'm positive it is for Gen 2 and onward.

So at the very least that's what Pikachu does.

I watched the show before playing the game so in my mind they are supposed to say their names. I always thought the cries were just because they couldn't VA the voices on the hardware. Game Freak I would assume has say in the anime so if they were the ones with the "names as speech" idea, I would imagine that's how it's supposed to be

To add, I think some pokemon like the Regis and Deoxys are incapable of any soeech and that's why they just make noises. I think that lines up with the anime as well though

Most mons in Pokken say parts of their Japanese names as cries, just a little more subtly than the anime. Machamp says "Riki" from Kairiki, Garchomp says "Ga" and even "Gaburias" in its entirety and so on.

I figured the ones that have a cry like their name were named after their cry (although it's not like we call dogs barkers).
