Back in first generation, I was 2 pokémon away from having a fully completed dex. Our school had a Spanish exchange student program. We took a lad called Daniel.

On the last day, my parents and my then best friend's parents dropped 3 of the Spanish lads at the airport. The flight got cancelled, so they had to come back. Luckily, one of my friends found that his gameboy and pokémon blue copy had gone missing. When I checked, mine had gone too.

Daniel and his two other friends had stolen and wiped our games. If the flight hadn't been cancelled at the last minute, they would have fucked off with our gameboys. I haven't liked the Spanish or first generation since. Broke my little heart.

I'm worried as I get older and I demand more challenge for my games I will start to resent Pokemon games. With how they are limiting opponent levels, team sizes, and introducing something as fucking awful as Gen 6 Exp Share, it's hard to imagine myself still looking forward to Pokemon 2-3 years from now.

That makes me sad.

I still don't understand why people think a half generation is possible. It literally isn't. It's either a new gen or it is an old gen, a half gen is not a thing, can never be a thing, it just isn't possible.

Also, mechanics fags are some of the most retarded people on the planet. I feel an uncontrollable desire to play the Gen 2 remakes, and I have Soul Silver just sitting there in my drawer. However, over the years since I bought Soul Silver, I started liking Ho-Oh a lot more, and now I can't get myself to play Soul Silver because it feels inferior.

It's miles better than what Lugia has. And I know you can hear Ho-Oh's battle theme in SS, but it's not the same when you don't get to see Ho-Oh being summoned and all by the Kimono Girls.

Also, this whole thing is making me be more cautious about what Pokemon version I buy from the 7th gen. I was going to go for Moon almost guaranteed, but now I'm gonna be much more careful about what version I pick, because I don't want to end up having the same problem I'm having now a few years later with the 7th gen games.

HG/SS Were mediocre at best aside from the pokethlon and are only revered because they tried to recapture that magical time when we got new pokemon for the first time as a kid (which was pretty nice then). Their meta being crap isn't their fault...it's gamefreaks.

A lot of their reasoning for banning things is "we just hate it" (Deo-D) but they're undeniably better at pokemon than myself and most other people and their meta is the one that stuck so it's the best we've got. I just wish I could walk into a suspect test thread and see legitimate arguments and not reddit tier circlejerking within the two sides.

In a perfect world (for me) Deo-D, Greninja, Aegislash, and M-Mawile wouldn't have gotten the axe but I don't make the rules and while I disagree with their arguments for banning them I do understand why they did it. It's just funny to see things like M-Metagross be furiously hated for weeks, barely not get banned, and now be largely accepted as balanced.

I think Mega-Evolution is actually a really great idea. I was so skeptical at first and even hated on it before trying it out for how different it seemed but it turned out alright. I still don't think it's perfectly implemented but gaymers these days are so freaking entitled that they want everything perfect right off the bat, like this wasn't how it used to be back in the day too.

Played pokemon for nearly 20 years, started with gen 1 and I still think that gen 2 was the worst. The only reason I love HG/SS is because of how good it felt to play and the improvements over the rest of gen 4, not because the games they're a remake of were good.

Platinum and Black/White 2 are my favorite games in the franchise. I like the ice cream pokemon and if you don't think Vanillite is the cutest thing you should consider suicide.

They're great designs. Sure, the pink and blue chunks are kinda weird, but they're cool. I even like Vanilluxe, as silly as it is.

HG/SS is liked because it was a nostalgia trip and remade the game everyone played when they were still young and loved pokemon.

ORAS was hated because brought everything people hated about new pokemon (X and Y) with it and was a remake of the game that was made when everyone hit their teens and started to hate pokemon (and everything else).

Those aren't the only good/bad things with each entry but yes, they're the main contributors the way I see it.

After playing through Crystal I pretty much lost interest in the franchise. I played through Ruby and Sapphire after that, but I rarely found myself enjoying them and playing them just felt tedious in general.

I think it was a combination of how fun/comfy it was to play through Crystal on my old Gameboy SD, and also me just growing out of playing pokemon games. I imagine my experience, if not the exact circumstance, is pretty typical so it doesn't bother me that much.

One of these days I might jump back in and start playing through them all, starting with Crystal just to see how it holds up to my memory of it. Until then I'm pretty content just not playing them, honestly I've missed so much at this point that going back into it seems intimidating.

On Hard Mode nearly every boss has Super Armor and immunity to Poison etc. So if you don't have a mon with defense-ignoring attacks, you're not gonna get far. But on Normal you can use pretty much anything.
