Most of the regional rodent pokémon try to pull of some intimidating or cool look. Furret is different, and I like it because it's like, "Yeah, I know I'm just the scrubby Pokémon you find at the beginning of the game. I'm cool with it. I'm just gonna do my thing and be adorable while doing it."

They did a good job making Furret look like something I actually want to own as a pet. That's good pokémon design.
