But it's true, Anon. Most of the people who bitch about design and use the word 'overdesigned' don't understand what a Pokemon can be. They don't understand the fact that a Pokemon can be practically anything, and can take a concept and make a monster or design out of it.

There is nothing wrong with Barbaracle. It looks just like a monster, which is what Pokemon are. It took a concept and went to it.

Right from the beginning of it all, we have had Pokemon that were goofy and silly, which is still a thing that exists in the franchise. It is still a thing that goes on.

Again, a Pokemon is a monster that can be anything, look like anything, and take concept from anything. Just because you yourself don't like the look doesn't mean it is bad design or there's something wrong with it. It simply means, shocker, it's not a monster for you.

The concept of 'overdesigned' as a whole is absolute bollocks, because no matter what the design, the Pokemon we have are still rather simple in style. Even Hoopa Unbound, with its detail and everything, still as a generally simple design aesthetic. It sitll looks cartoony and a bit silly.

Take a look at every goddamn Pokemon that we have. You know what they all share? The fact that they are all rather cartoony in design.

The older gens have overly simplistic designs in the majority due to technical limitations, which for the most part we don't have any more. We are able to do a lot more with designs. Give Pokemon possibilities they wouldn't have had previously. You cannot define a Pokemon and Pokemon design simply by only looking at the old Pokemon. You need to understand beyond this.

Long story short: Using the phrase 'overdesigned' is an incredible fallacy and lesson in ignorance, showing just how much people don't understand their own fandom's creatures.
