What possible reason could they have for delaying Pokebank compatibility

I thought it was because the code from Gens 1 and 2 are incompatible with all future games, which would mean in S/M they'd have to program it where Gen 1 PokeData could be received. Idk though really.

I imagine there will be a time-machine like tool in S&M much like G/S/C to make the gen1 mons compatible.
And that they will be like the new pokemon and unable to be transferred to X/Y/OR/AS.
Also there is no way you would be able to put pokemon into the R/B/Y games.

What if s&m uses a battle system closer to gen 1?

Relatedly... does anyone know how the trading/battling works with the VC games? Can you do it remotely with a friend online or do you have to be near each other?
