I fell asleep playing my run through of Platinum the the battery on my 3DS died. I'm pretty sure half my team was KO'd by Roarks Cranidos but I was in the middle of the battle so nothing was saved.

Once again in my blind Sacred Gold run, one of my Pokemon saves the run after their death.

Lyra's Ninetales rekt half my team, leaving me with only Glaceon, Weepinbell, and Magnemite (i.e., blackout imminent). It was souped up on +2 all stats from Ominous Wind in addition to being strong in the first place, so when I sent out my Glaceon, it was to say good bye... except, as it turns out, my Potion stalling tactics + Spiritomb's Pressure depleted all of Flamethrower and Ominous Wind's PP! So, once again, I stumbled my way to an empty victory, Pidgeotto being the heaviest loss here...

Obviously, I don't expect to beat this game, but I'm surprised I'm still alive considering I've pulled this stuff off too many times already, this early in the game.

I checked out Chucks gym while I was there, it seemed over leveled compared to what I'd just dealt with as well, figured I was supposed to do Jasmine first. In fairness I haven't played a Gen 2 game in about 5 years.

In contrast though, the rival battle right before entering Jasmine's gym is all ~32 leveled, so I assumed it was safe. If it weren't for Leg Day getting OHKO by T Bolt I probably wouldn't have lost anyone.

I went with sacred gold. I have a tendency to way overlevel for falkner (I really wanted thunder fang raticate - which outsped OHKO'd the entire gym lol) but oh well, it's just less grinding to do for bugsy.

Dublin died catching magnemite in his first ever battle. Maybe if he was smarter and hadn't hit himself in confusion he could've lived a pleasant life in the box.

Looking ahead, I only have 2 males on the team (bayleef and numel) so hopefully I can keep all/most of these for whitney. Excited to see what we catch in the next couple routes though, it's a stronger start than I expected picking chikorita.

I'm playing a Sacred Gold run with Dupes Clause and I'm about to battle Claire, and then I go to the Dragon's Den. In the Dragon's Den, the catchable pokemon are Magikarp, Dratini, and their respective evolutions. I currently have a Magikarp in my box, therefore activating the dupes clause if I encounter a Magikarp or a Gyarados.

So, is roaming the Dragon's Den until I encounter a Dratini to catch exploiting a loophole in the dupes clause? Should I just catch the Magikarp that I'll most likely encounter multiple times before I see a Dratini?

Personally I think the dupes rule as you had it before is fine, the point of Nuzlocke is to limit your Pokemon and make the Pokemon you use more varied, getting the odd guaranteed shot at a rare one doesn't hurt that, it helps it.

Should probably note that I'm playing sacred gold. I'm not sure how I feel about adding another pokemon weak to fighting on the team, my Golem and Carnivine are both weak. Not the end of the world or anything, but pokemon occasionally have out of nowhere fighting type moves that i wasn't expecting (I almost lost carnivine to a fucking farfetch'd because I forgot he was part fighting type now and knew close combat)

Instead of demoting one of the flying pokemon and one of the grass pokemon to balance out the team, I'm waiting for one of them to die. I imagine them to be in a personal dual with one another. The remaining one will won by a process of natural selection.

For Kalos, there's NeoXY and EternalX/WiltingY. Neo sucks ass, don't play it. Don't even consider it. Just go for Eternal/Wilting.

For the Hoenn Remakes, there's Rutile Ruby/Star Sapphire. They are balanced around the EXP share and the whole "competitive" aspect of Pokemon, so you'll be obtaining competitive items after the 2nd gym and you will see legendaries in trainer teams after the 3rd badge. Also enemies will be around level 100 by the time you face the second Team Boss Battle. They have some questionable choices like the legendary usage and some pokemon received some odd type changes (such as ground/fighting cubone, dragon/steel axew, etc, but nowhere near as bad as Neo's type changes)

Then there's Dray's Rising Ruby/Sinking Sapphire. it's the typical "all pokemon increased difficulty hack" but it's probably his least ambitious one to date. Besides the usual buffs to shitmons to make them viable, there are no dialogue changes, no title screen changes, no TM changes. Everything besides some item obtains, stats, movepool and trainer roster is the same. It's still a good ROMhack if you're looking for a challenge but not as intense as Rutile/Star

There's also a mix ROMhack of the two called Meme Sapphire floating around here. It takes the base of Rutile/Star romhack but adds more of Dray's additions as well such as the buff to shitmons and whatnot.

I played through Alpha Sapphire using a "Retired" rule, where MVPs are boxed during important trainer battles (Gyms, Rival, etc). Do you think this wold be possible in many other games

My bench is slowly shrinking, I bungled the captures on Route 11 and Digletts Cave, OG Status crits too damn hard.

I keep running into Tympoles that take out huge chunks of HP with BubbleBeam on Pokémon that arent weak to water. I'm talking about sending them into the orange/red.

Did I just have shit luck with my team's Sp.Def or have these things always been so powerful? I'd hate to see what happens if one crits.

I'm about to face Lenora and just got the fishing rod. Fished up a lonely adaptability Basculin and am considering switching out my Dewott for him. Dewott doesn't even have Karate chop because the Audino he killed brought to level eighteen before he evolved. Should I train up the Basculin instead of Dewott? Most of my runs in BB end either at or shortly after Lenora wipes my most of my team so this is real important.

Your team is gonna have trouble against Burgh, are these your last 4? Hope you get something good on Route 4.

Also, just a piece of advice : don't worry too much about being overleveled in this hack. When you face perfect IVs/EV-trained Pokémon, it's only fair to have a few levels on them and even them, it's gonna be tough. Here's how my team was leveled throughout the run : 25 for the 2nd gym ; 35 for the 3rd ; 42 for Elesa ; 48 for Clay ; 60 for Skyla ; 65 against Brycen and 80 against Drayden. And it still hurt like hell to get to Victory Road.

Sure, I was only fighting that trainer with a Chansey on Route 9 over and over again to get Mandy and Rothen caught up with the rest of the team, so nothing happened really.

Status effects are bullshit in nuzlockes. Stuff like confusion and stun only affects the player, enemies tend to ignore it. Sleep never lasts as long for enemies as it does for the player. The only consistent statuses are poison and burn.
