Worse. Gen 5's dynamic camera and pseudo-3D effect looked like shit and the animations were poor. I'd say that HGSS actually looked better than gen 5, they had a vibrant colour palette that made an otherwise boring region come to life (especially with the day/night cycle).

I only think XY had washed out colors. They weren't as bad as people say, but I still prefer HGSS/ORAS colors
