Of course you weren't gonna let someone come in and kick your ass, good for you that you showed uni anon how good good is. It'll give him something to aspire too. Where you misstepped was allowing it to be an awkward transition. You should have used constructive criticism and positive reinforcement. Asked for another battle and went with as equally unique yet less competitive strategy further exemplifying your pokemon pedigree. The point is, it's rare to come across someone with common interests in competitive pokemon and those people always need to be encouraged and reinforced. Also on a side note, no reason to jump to embarrassment so quickly, remember it's just a game and always build yourself and your competitors up because each battle is a growing experience.
