As a Trevenant trainer, I have more than enough experience with one.

Keep them away from other humans. They will get attached to you and your garden but wont take kindly to any thing they don't deem safe and sometimes that means other people you might invite over.

In other words, they're kinda like giant Growlithe but creepier.

Plus, they're ghost type. No feeding necessary.

It's all about the training though. And you don't have to actually train them for battle. They'll learn eventually. It takes some skill to get the things to actually behave and mind themselves, but it's usually worth it if you're into battling. If you're not... Well... Just don't go into the tall grass.

I used to travel and battle a bit when I was younger but it wasn't my cup of tea. Almost got eaten by a fucking wild Gyarados. That's enough adrenaline rush for a lifetime. Still got a few of my buddies around. My Noctowl gets to fly around freely when it wants to but it always comes home. And my Houndoom might look a little scary and there's all the talk about eternal pain but he's a nice fella. Doesn't go shooting those flames around unless ordered to.

Damn, I'm really getting the battle itch though. Maybe I should enter a local tournament or something...

Honestly, I was the same way about the Sudowoodo at first. They're punchy buggers. Saw one knock out a Gyarados by punching it clear in the face. The thing is, most Pokemon are just as scared of you as you are of them. Used to be I was too scared to check the fields when it was Fletchinder season, but the Sudowoodo scare 'em off. Now I'm working on building 'em a barn so they can hide if it rains because they've just been so friendly. Might make 'em the vineyard masctot.

Anyway, point is, Pokemon are nothing to be scared of. Respect them, and they'll respect you. Just don't touch the babies unless the mother's okay with it.

I find that any pokemon can be loving and gentle if they possess the right personality. I've known a Hydreigon that just wanted to cuddle. That isn't to say it was completely harmless. If anyone picked on it's friends, they were triple Hyper Beamed straight to oblivion. Even the strongest pokemon are like babies for their friends. Sometimes they are just as scared of us. So, the Shuckles are going great. One actually came knowing Dig, and it just immediately dug out a hole for them. It's cool and damp, so they seem to be cool with it for now, but I'll build them a proper housing later. Apparently, they're bigger than normal as well, since one of them was able to rear up and hug me. I should have a sampler batch of this shuckle wine by year's end.

The Sudowoodo are doing great, after a quick visit from the nurse at the Pokemon Center. Apparently the Pokerus isn't malignant, so the ones with the weird skin tone will be A-OK. They've been slowly meeting the Shuckles, so I'll update in the morning. Looks like it's about to rain and I should probably let the Sudos into the barn.

I swear it even just likes to sit and listen to them, sometimes. I don't blame them, because again, it'd be really nice if it wasn't for ten hours straight every night.

So I live on the outskirts of Saffron City in Kanto, along Route 6. Y'know, it's pretty suburby. But all the locals have been noticing a pretty alarming increase in...seismic activity?

It's not localized at an epicenter like an earthquake, either, it's more like it comes and goes, like a passing wave going by underground. Nothing destructive, but it's shook up some houses and my neighbor - a sweet old lady - had her antique china tumble out of its cabinet.

We're worried that an Onix may be burrowing under the area. You think so? I hadn't considered Diglett and Dugtrio. They never really seem to leave their cave down by Vermillion.

I figured it'd be an Onix just due to its sheer size, it really oughta be making some kind of noise underground just by worming through it with all that strength. And even just in Kanto those things can be seen as far flung as that big pass through the mountains to the Indigo Plateau. So I assumed their roaming wouldn't be a huge oddity.

Then again I've never seen the things. I did some travelling back in college but never any kind of grand adventure all those trainers seem to go on. It's kind of sad, really, this whole narrative of being the very best is drilled into kids' heads and they focus all on that and totally miss a real education, and burn out with no fallback plan. Not everyone can be a champion, y'know?

Since you only have the one Pokeball, it has nowhere to replicate itself, but you should not take that Pokeball anywhere with you. You are in the forest isolated from Pokeball carrying trainers and, god forbid, a Pokemon Centre.

Unfortunately, you still need to beat Mega Porygon-Z to revert it, but it's much more powerful than any other Pokemon I know of...

The only way to beat a Mega Porygon-Z is with another Mega Porygon-Z...

mate, Onix are hardy fuckers, but in all honesty they're gentle giants. They can't hit harder than a Pidgey. And besides, a Pokemon just doesn't survive too long if it can't even move without caving itself in...

So I just came across this thing on the coast of Cinnabar after talking to an annoying old drunk guy in Viridian. It keeps following me, and for some reason I have over 100 HP Ups now?

It's kinda hard to look at. It keeps shimmering like it's not there and I feel like I'm getting a headache. Repels won't work.

Help?

Yeah, Route 6. Diglett Cave is just to the southeast, but like I said, ever since the containment measures of the late 70s, the things don't really leave their cave. The houses were built before we even knew about the population there, but oh man I would not have wanted to live here back then.

Since the 70s there's some (nontoxic, don't worry) Repel pumped into the soil surrounding the cave for, like, a hundred feet down. It's amazing, the city council got this service that trains Pokemon to do that kind of work. I think they got Drilbur in from Unova to dig all the tunnels they needed. They built some pipes and to this day, that underwater irrigation of Repel keeps the things in their cave. Amazing!
