I actually agree. This project has probably been in development for years, all of the models for old Pokemon has been completed, so they can focus on other things and have time to execute an excellent game. The ground work has already been laid out from XY and ORAS.

The only legitimate complaint about gen 5 is actually subjective such as "bad designs" when let's face it, they are either using a magnifying lens on simply two pokemon to represent the whole gen AND/OR they are butthurt they cant use pidgey and zubat for the 86th time

Gen 4 sold about one million more than gen 3 on a system with nearly triple the user base of the GBA that is utterly pathetic to top it off none of those new players stayed as evidenced by the sales of the gen 5 and 6 games having sales numbers more in line with gen 3.
Not to mention that it copied all of the side game elements and butchered them by removing mechanics and facilities many enjoyed, then there's the fact that the story was a near complete rehash of RSE for both DP and Platinum just without the second team Galactic even enacts their true plan at the exact same place in the game as RSE and Giratina even stops the two legendaries just like Ray.

Gen 5 also created entirely new overworld assets that fleshed out the world much more than Gen 4 did, introduced the most new pokemon of any game that number being 156 and improved the engine by leaps and bound so it wasn't absurdly slow and large cities didn't drop frames like they did in Platinum which was necessary given castelia's size next to Hearthome. In fact that raises the question as to how the third game can make the engine WORSE than it was in the first game. Even the infamous "saving a lot of data" took longer to do in Plat which was a pain for road trips.

Gen 4 as a whole is just a pale imitation of 3 with barely anything that set it apart from the rest of the games while generation 5 is what Gen 4 should have been in terms of quality, content and story. I can't even name a single thing of worth introduced in gen 4 that was worthwhile beyond the physical special split.
