Models from Pokemon X/Y are starting to be ripped and uploaded:
Those are just animated images ripped from the game using a 3DS recording software. These are actual 3D models that can be used to be imported into a 3D modeling software
Damn it, I need more than just 20! How fast is this process? I need them ALL.
The uploader is planning on releasing the model-importing script for use with 3DS Max that he is using to get the models. There's still some bugs in the software, but once it is released, other people can start ripping the models.
This is really cool, great if you want to draw stuff to scale or sculpt them out of clay. Kind of a random selection so far, hoping they prioritize the XY models since you can't view them in Dex 3D and the cart isn't a great reference.
Pretty excited to see some trainer models.
Also interested in what Meowstic's image files will look like. I want to see those eye-ears...
Apparently GameFreak just reused the Pokedex 3DS pro models and made them to match the quality of them, which are also high-res so they don't look oddly placed in game.
I am just pulling them from the model's texture files after downloading them.

I couldn't quite pin down why they looked so different, but this must be it.
In Smash you can at least turn it off, apparently. I hope this is gone in seventh gen, along with the circles, hopefully.
The models look good most of the time, don't get me wrong, but these look so much smoother.
In Smash the black border is editable, but it serves the purpose of making the characters stand out more against the busy backgrounds, especially when they're zoomed out. In XY they wanted to make the models look like Sugi's artwork, they said so in an interview I think.

Now we know why the 3DS has trouble rendering them. Snake in MGS3 and Alyx Vance in HL2 are 4,000 polygons each. Those numbers are what you would expect from a 360 game, not the 3DS.
Polygon count isn't everything, but that is overkill unless you're trying to future-proof your models.

This is why XY lag. And futureproofing the models seems to be the goal, so they don't have to remake the models every single gen.

If anyone wants the eyes from a mon not on the site, I have them all ripped separately (though my ripping script is buggy and will look a little rougher around the edges than this.)
So I guess the actual problem was the resolution and not the amount of polygons, so we're going to be stuck with these models for a while then. Not really a bad thing, I just hope they decide to get rid of those washed out colours.

Blender is a robust program, but the UI is horrible, even if you know what you are doing. Your best bet is to just get a student liscense of 3ds max and/or maya, which is a free 3 year license.

I'd say the black line is more the problem, but if it had a bigger screen (Gameboy Player but 3DS -> Wii U, anyone?) would be definitely sweet.
I've no doubt that some people actually liked them, they had an interesting enough gimmick and they were fairly cute characters, but all this shit about "m-muh Ice Climbers" is coming out of nowhere just because they're not in Smash this time around. It's annoying how a lot of people are merely using them as an excuse to bitch.
Well, it's no secret that both the 3DS and Wii U are underpowered pieces of shit but you can still make good looking shit in the 3DS. Look at those Yokai Watch comparison pictures that get posted from time to time. Shit programmers with shit hardware can only bring about a shitty product.

Latest maya is also "free" if you register as student, you get a 3 year full license, you just have to deal with a warning "this is a student version" when you open it
I don't even know where those Pokemon models came from but now that gen 6 models are available expect them soon on the Steam Workshops.
I think I fixed it. I swapped the file names of "DesukarnEnv" and "DiaEnv" and got this. The shades of pink look odd though, but I guess that is part of what should make the gems look clearish?
It's a texture used for move effects anon, just find the texture and make it transparent.
