I wrote on a Spongebob sticky note and it said "I wish my final message wasn't on Spongebob paper."

Got one reply. "fuckin lol"

I ended up getting the fuck off /b/ like two days later when I saw porn and some Nazi shit and was terrified I was going to get the cops called on me because I was on a website like that.

Now, of course, I shitpost Nazi jokes and see porn on a daily basis.

I got back on 4chan on /v/ about a year after that and when I saw there were other boards that talked about stuff I enjoyed, I stayed around.

For 10 years.

I was there mostly trying to figure out what was up with the first episode of Haruhi. We didn't have a second episode aired yet at the time, so what they were doing with that first episode was rather unusual.

I posted a badly photoshopped image of a mecha'nized Google Chrome logo shooting from its eye in a "ima firin' mah lazor" thread, pic roughly related. It soon fell from the catalog without any response.

I had two separate experiences. The first was stumbling upon 4chan way, way back in like 2005 or 2006 when I was googling hentai. I remember clicking a link that lead here and not knowing what the fuck I was looking at; I remember being really confused by the layout and unable to navigate the site.

Otherwise, this was my first true experience.

Everyone was getting hyped for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the daily blog updates were a big thing back then. I have tons of Brawl fanwork saved with date stamps around that time. Pic related is the oldest image I can currently find in my 4chan folder, but it's really disorganized so I might have older.

I followed a link to /a/ from a Code Geass thread on some anime forum. I put my actual email in the email field and wrote "anonymous" case-sensitive in the name field. Someone asked my age thinking I was underaged and I said it, which resulted in a long ban.

I had a very short look into it somewhere soon after it's inception, actually, somewhere between 2003 and early 2005, but didn't stay or post. Just read about it, took a look, turned 360° and went away.

Your mostly right, it wasn't so much enabling as they weren't ready for a kid and didn't know what to do with me so they were generally apathetic. I was heavily bullied in school and being a small ass town where everyone was related nothing ever got done about it and the most my parents ever did was tell me to fight back so I started gravitating towards video games and the internet where I could have friends online without the hard parts of social interaction so I never learned.

Damn, that hits a little too close to home. Not for me, but for one of my best friends. Sounds almost exactly like the situation he's been in all his life: mother got knocked up at 16, he was introduced to video games at an early age as a pseudo-babysitter, remained committed to them before, during, and well beyond primary and secondary education, used them as a means to fill the void where social skills would normally be discovered, and generally doesn't talk or associate with new people; most of his friends are people he's only known through family or school.

When he was still living with his parents, his entire world would fall apart whenever he'd get grounded and have his video games taken away. Completely and utterly withdrawn to the point of not being able to function.

None of that applied when I was still a kid, I was bullied because it was a super small town (>1000) and the bully was the high school principles son and had several relatives in the school so he power tripped as much as he wanted, I was just an outsider I would have been bullied regardless of what I did and fighting back wasn't an option since I was always the one that would get punished.
