Why are porn ads so aggressive and ostentatious?

Pop-unders, over the top sexual acts right in the ad, and really ugly, gaudy graphics.

I never like visiting porn sites on my phone because I think I'm going to get slammed with countless ads that won't play nice with a phone interface.

desperate sexual desire is a powerful driving force.
>>
>>57169
>>57175 this but also there are just literally billions of people out there so stupid that this kind of advertising works. people literally want this content, or at least don't know anything better so they think this is okay.

Clickbait cleverly designed to blend in with the website so the user doesn't know what's authentic content from the site they're browsing and what's an ad. Anything to get a retard's attention away from whatever site it is that served them the ad in the first place.

Same reason why if you browse nearly any major news outlet supported by ads, there's a shitload of Taboola and Outbrain links spammed everywhere: on the sides, interlaced throughout, and rows and rows at the bottom of pages with captions like "Pay off your mortgage ten times as fast with this insanely simple trick," "25 hideous tattoos these morons will regret getting," and the infamous "Trainers hate him; scientists in Cambridge have discovered a revolutionary muscle builder."

>literally billions of people out there so stupid that this kind of advertising works
it "works" in the sense that it's profitable in from a perspective of economies-of-scale, i.e. it costs very little to push an ad to millions of people, so even if only 5000 people click it it might be worth it

it's not as if there's some sort of retarded autistic version of don draper coming up with these clickbait ads that perfectly capture the imagination of every idiot, it's just a very small subset of idiots who click on the ads

But after so long you have to wonder exactly who is clicking on these ads. Internet has been around long enough. Everyone ages 20-40 knows this stuff is bullshit. Kids just coming onto the internet learn quickly that these ads are bullshit. Are there really enough 50+ year old dudes out there who see these ads, think they're legit, and are able to keep falling for it?

enough that these ads are still ubiquitous across the internet. this kind of garbage, even non sexualized, or at least soft core sexualized (i.e. SHE wore WHAT to the beach?), is appended to so many web pages.

It's not necessarily about the ads being profitable, it's that often they're the only people willing to buy ads alongside porn videos. So the ad buys are probably pretty cheap.

So they can buy high volume for pretty cheap. And there's plenty of dumb people out there.

There's probably a small minority curious about what the service actually is. I admit I'm curious. Never going to give them any money let alone my credit card info, but I'm curious as to where that road ends.

i feel like vice or someone would have done a writeup on it
>>
Let me addendum this thread: why are porn ads so unconcerned with user experience?
>>
>>57618
They're ads, that isn't their job.
>>
>>57308
No. Vice is interested in reporting stupid shit right now. Enjoyed that physical magazine for 15 years and then they started hiring for their mobile content and it's gone completely downhill.

Why do ad makers put so little effort into "designing" their ads? From what I've seen most ads are just stolen images from other sites with an mspaint text field slapped on the side of it. Every now and then you'll get the occasional ad where the maker put a miniscule effort into making it animated but even then it's really terrible and jarring to look at, as if all they did was randomly move the image a few pixels to the left or right a few times or simply rotate the image.

And I don't mean using stock images from sites like shutter or getty, I mean browsing shit like deviantart or pixiv and going "Oh wow, look at this lewd drawing of a female elf taking it up the ass; this would make for a really good ad on a natural supplements website."

i remember when it was free in like hair cutting places and stuff and it was a lot of creative writing.

They're trying to do the absolute minimum. Why would they want to put any effort?
