I think it's safe on a few boards like /vip/ and /qa/ because they're sort of meta. On /a/ and other topical boards I can see it being an issue as it would often derail into a shitstorm.

It's a way of keeping "why is X banned" threads from clogging things up, mostly.

It doesn't sound like it's really 'against the rules' per se -- sounds more like a case-by-case basis.

Sounds dangerous, though.

I've been banned for this before back during the puddi saga for bitching about moot.
